Virginia Driver Improvement Program : Defensive Driving & Traffic Faculties.

A chain of 5 research papers made public in a Sep 2002 supplement of Injury Prevention address reducing the crash risk among young drivers. Most states need an adult with a valid driver's license be present when the teenager is driving. Additionally the teenager driver is necessary to join a licensed Drivers Ed course and must hold a learner's permit for a minimum of three six months before taking an "operators driving license" test. While GDL programs allow the teen driver to gain experience in a family auto with a parent, other drivers are now not aware who is behind the wheel of this automobile.

The following was taken from the DMV's Leaflet .

A Different sort of Crash Course.

The chances are one out of 4 that you'll be concerned in a crash during your lifetime.

To reduce these chances, the Virginia Dep. of Motor Autos has made a different sort of crash course. It helps educate drivers who have developed dodgy driving practices and it takes deadly drivers off the road.

DMV uses a point system to rate drivers. You receive demerit points for dangerous driving and safe driving points for good driving.

Demerit Points are allotted when you commit a traffic violation. Different violations carry different point assignments, depending on the seriousness of the offense. Demerit points remain valid 2 years from the date you commit an offense.

In some cases, you can also earn safe driving points by completing a driver improvement hospital.

This may add up to giant difficulty for some drive.

Here's a nice page about vintage cars
